How to Get There?

Talisay's Pride

"TALISAY? Kalayo gud." (Talisay? That's far. )
"Okay raman, 1 hour or 1 jeep away ra ang biyahe." (It's fine; only an hour or jeepney away.)

Often, this conversation would likely exist whenever I started to introduce myself to all the people in school.  My professors, especially my classmates would ask where do I live.

Despite the 13 km distance from Cebu City to Talisay, I can say that anyone who has been in Talisay will always miss Talisay.  The entire feeling of entering the 'boundaries' in Bulacao (near Asian College of Technology) and Tabunok (near Shell) simply feels so different. The perfect blend of suburban nature and modernization affects how people get into unique lifestyles and traditions.

Let me share to you my realization.  Way back high school, I always wanted to go stroll Cebu City with friends, or even just for those times when I needed to buy my wants (I admit).  It was as if it boosted my ego upon the seeing those shopping malls and tall establishments that surround me.  It gave me the feeling of having everything I want at instant! Duh.

Today, I'm a university student in Cebu City.  To be honest, I got used with the urban environment and I felt nostalgic about Talisay.  I live along the South Road Properties (SRP), a 4-laned high way connecting Cebu's south and city. Instead of riding a jeepney to Brgy. Laray  (11D/11A) in Talisay, I always prefer to go home riding the 42D jeepney set for Brgy. Cansojong.  Its route circum travels Brgy. Tabunok to the pit stop (Cansojong) where I ditch for a walk--that is, from P. Labuca Street towards home.

Phew!  Enough for that.  Jeepneys, the most popular form of transportation among Filipinos, are the best way to finish.  The following jeepney numbers simplify the interrogative title to the very best that I can.

1. People who live in SOUTH (Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando and the like) :  44 D
2. People who live in NORTH (Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapulapu City and the like) : 41/42 D or 11 A/D or 44 D
